Compassion works
Leaders in the legal sector who have genuine compassion for their team will find productivity gains with much less disruption.
Focusing on preparing and planning for the new paradigm in legal services I see a range of attitudes out there. Especially now, as the pace of new tech is accelerating and impacts and expectations are increasing. What's clear is that designing, delivering and implementing new ways of working in a legal team challenges people on many levels.
GCs and legal leaders who listen and make decisions with empathy are at an advantage, I think.
The rewards are worth it. Putting compassion and empathy at the heart of your dealings with people as you formulate your strategy and approach to new technology and legal operations is a simple and effective leadership behaviour.
